Menus and Navigation

We have made the DVDs simple to use by using fully interactive menus operated from your DVD remote. A example is shown below.

judo dvd lesson menu screen

This not only arranges the content into a logical structure, but also allows fast navigation to specific techniques or sections without having to play through the entire DVD.

Each DVD has a 10 step "lesson plan" and each lesson teaches a specific technique. You can watch the fun 3D characters demonstrate each move with 4 different camera positions to select from. You can also select the live video clip and see real kids of different ages in demonstrating the technique in class. (Both the 3D animations and live video play full screen when selected, images in menu are only small menu preview sequences)

3D Animations

Our lovable 3D characters are used to demonstrate each Judo technique. Although animated, the technique is performed correctly with a professional voice over explaining each technique in detail, just like in class. We play it a little slower than real time speed so kids have time to take it in, and even slow it down more when there is something particular we need to point out.

Our characters perform in a beautiful virtual "Dojo" and naturally supervised by "Ko" our old master Sensei.

One big advantage with a 3D environment is the multiple camera angles, this lets you view the technique from all angles to better comprehend the technique (which is more than you can see in class)

Live Video

Each technique is also performed by real kids of various ages in a Judo class and can be selected from the lesson menu. Some of the kids we use are no experts, and will make mistakes this is encouraging and non-intimidating for the beginner.

Terminology

One section of the DVD covers terminology. This clip will scroll through all the terms provided so the kids can see, hear and read each expression with the written English translations provided.

The DVD includes Informative voiceovers and subtle Japanese background music throughout, and naturally all content is G rated. (ideally suited for kids 5 and up)

All DVDs are produced in the widescreen (16:9) format, so they will look perfect on your new flat panel TV. !! All you need is a standard TV set and DVD player with a remote (does not need to be HDTV), the DVD can also be played on a computer using any DVD playback software.

Professional Judo "Technical" Advisor

For this series of DVDs we use the services of a professional Judo instructor who has been teaching kids Judo for many years and has introduced hundreds if not thousands of kids to this sport. All content has been carefully vetted and approved.

Each DVD covers almost all of the techniques and terminology needed to advance to the next belt grade. This keeps kids focused on what's important to advance quickly, but you should check with your Judo coach, each Judo Association and Club Sensei has their own slight variations on what's required to advance to a specific belt grade, this DVD is merely a supplement which takes a broad stroke on what's "generally" required.
